Well, Here goes......!

Happy New Year!!
I can't believe that I am actually trying my own blog! Gosh, I hope that it will be slightly interesting. My own little corner of the web......well THAT is exciting. I will give it a whirl, and we will see how it goes from there.
We had a fun day today. O.k., it is NOT exactly riveting news...., but we were all together, and we had fun! The kids all slept in late this morning. Once everyone was up, dresssed, fed, and speaking coherently, we headed out. We ate lunch at an awesome little spot called The Depot. It is down by the river, and, you guessed it, the train tracks. Austin and Jack were SO surprised when Dad took them to the sporting goods store and got them a catchers mitt (Jack), and a bat (Austin-this was an exchange of the one that he got for Christmas, because--insert baseball jargon here). Who knew that a boy's baseball bat would cost $200??!!!! And this was by no means the at the "upper end" of the scale. Ugh. Anyway, Savannah and I shot over to Target while the boys were in heaven, er, the sporting goods store. We picked up some lovely fluted champagne glasses. We all got back together and headed to the mall to get the boys hair cut. They look handsome, although niether of them got the cut that they asked for. If you go to the mall to get your hair cut, you will look the smae as the guy that came outbefore you no matter what you say. I MUST get them a regular stylist.
We took everyone to Putt-Putt. The boys hit the batting cages. They tore 'em up! Austin has worked very hard to get to his level of proficiency in hitting. And he is really excelling. This was approximately Jack's 3rd time at bat EVER. He is a natural. He was smacking the ball, bunting, swinging like a pro. He looked so little in his helmet, sporting his sponge bob tattoo on his bicep.
I was supposed to go and shop with Savannah at a store across the road. We are looking high and low for a solid wood kitchen island. And wouldn't you know it.......they closed early! This is the third time that I have tried to get there. I just KNOW that they have the kitchen island of my dreams behind those locked doors!
When we got home, Savannah helped me fix "champagne" for the kids(gingerale+cranberry juice cocktail). My mom used to do this for us whenever the grown-ups were having champagne. She would give us gingerale in a special liquer glass. Savannah felt just as grown up as I did when I was little! This kind of stuff is lost on the boys. We made fried oysters for our little New Years Eve observance. On the tube tonight was a mixture of Johnny Quest, and the Miami-Florida football game.
I am sure that we will have toasted to 2005, and be in the bed , out cold long before the New Year officially comes, but that's o.k.. We kinda like it that way!
