Today.......we clean.
We're throwing a Christmas party here Sunday night for the family. Last count that's 13+ me and the kids. Race's folks will be arriving that day too! I have a small house,so moving-around-room is crucial. SO we are cleaning it from top to bottom today.(I guess if I had a big house, I'd be cleaning it too!)This is the day where we all clean like mad so as to create the illusion, for the comfort of our guests, that we DON'T,in fact, live the the way we actually DO. And when people walk in I try to hide the guilty look on my face..."OH..thank-you...(glancing around)....yep, this is us...THIS is how we REALLY live...yep".
So I shall work the strong backed slave children to the weary bone today in order to achieve the desired effect.Please do not feel any sympathy for them... these are the same wayward sluggards who muck it up all week long(daughter excluded from this harsh criticism).
If I can get everything spic and span today, then that leaves tomorrow and Sunday for the finishing touches and the COOKING. Which I love to do. I am really excited about it this year. LAst year we couldn't do it because we were busy preparing to go to Israel. (Doesn't seem like a year ago does it?) SO I am really looking forward to it. We absolutely LOVE getting together with everyone. It is truly a highlight for us.
Well, I gotta go. It's gonna take awhile to transform this old shack into the anticipated Bountiful Christmas Wonderland that my guests have come to expect.;-)

Oh. FUN! I know the Big Clean, and I nearly choked on my coffee @ the wayward sluggards... glad you put the daughter-caveat in there. I just can't see her contributing to the domestic delinquency. :-)

I LOVED all the pictures from the hike!! The AT is one of my favorite, all-around hikes. Haven't done the whole thing, yet, but someday. Oh yes, someday, the boys will be lugging my wheelchair up all manner of inclines on it. :-D

i realize this isn't exactly the forum for this, but it's the ONLY place i know you check.
i'm getting the distinct impression that you are deliberately avoiding contact with me at this point. i'm not really sure why although i have a pretty good idea. i also think i have a decent read on what happened to your computer... maybe—hopefully— i'm wrong and i'll hear from you. anyway, my kids and i are going to be in stafford this saturday. i'll be playing tennis with a very close friend of mine who i haven't seen in a long while and the kids will be playing too...thinking brooke point hs or colonial forge hs. obviously, it'll be very casual and we'll probably get a bite after. i know you have family in the area and that you said you wanted to meet up some time. well, this could be that time if you'd like. maybe you and yours play tennis. come on out...the more the merrier. it'd really be great to see you again and catch up on our respective lives, at least for a little while. you can call me and let me know what you want to do (917 693-5580).
on the side, if i'm just pissin in the wind here, tell me so. don't just cut off communication without a reason—i don't deserve that.
i don't know if you've bothered with any of my e-mails (i've only sent a couple), but i got roy's e-mail address and have yet to hear from him. becky said he works odd shifts and probably doesn't access e-mail that often.

To the point: Sorry Mel. It was just that we went from rapid fire "Hey, let's get together for drinks!" and "Oooh I WOULD LOVE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ROY!" to absolute radio silence and I was beginning to wonder if everything was okay. It had been 5 months (not 10 min) since I had heard from you. I understand being busy, but that seemed like a really long time to me. Remember, I haven't been in your "world" for over 20 years. I didn't know if Race was taking an exception to your contacting me or what.
