Homeschool Yuppie Mommie

I have taken time out from planning my own funeral to use the only voice that I have left.

You see, the anonymous comment below got me to thinking. Could it be?

Could the stigma that has so long plagued the poor homeschool mom be lifting??

The homeschool mom has long been associated with a certain......."look". You know the one I of which I speak. She is content to don one of a handful of long jumpers that reach to her shins. She has one of 2 different hairstyles: either a tight perm, or the loooonnng, untouched down to "there" hair. I could go on....it's all been very well defined and I'm afraid well documented.

So, I'm just saying........maybe we're turning a corner here girls!!! Maybe the NEW homeschool mom will drive a suburban..(you still gotta haul all those kids around)...maybe she will be dressed in a more "Gap-ish" way. Maybe she'll have an AWESOME, big, leather tote and a fresh haircut. I dunno.....it's possible...right?

I mean I couldn't be the poster girl or anything, because I also still have to haul my own garbage and drive the Scalded Dog each week:

Still.......I'm just sayin'......

(shrug)I dunno, it could all just be my fevered brain. You see, my sister has put a curse on me. She has cursed me with illness because I didn't like the baby name she picked. I know, I know.......I should know better......and I do. But still, shouldn't she use her power for good?? Shouldn't she?

Cheers!
Melissa

I'm with you on the Yuppie Mom thing! I drive a (small-ish) SUV, a Honda CR/V. I love a manicure, a trip to the gym, chai's, all of that stuff. We could start our own sub-culture of the hs sub-culture. A sub- sub-culture? (feeling punchy after an afternoon caffein boost...forgive me...) =-)

I read the comment and had no worries that you would respond appropriately. What was apparently intended as an insult was turned into a positive! Nice job!!!!

I recently found your blog and I really like it. I hate the stigma attached to what a homeschool mom is supposed to look like. I love that I break all those stereotypes! Anyway - I really enjoyed reading about your recent trip.

Hey- just what the hell is exactly your problem? Why don't you just email me and get all this off your chest at once. That way you and I can talk and you can quit subjecting the people who actually LIKE to read this blog , to all your bitter ass comments. Seriously, man, try smiling. Share the love...

What is with you Baltimore Maryland folks, anon? Stop bothering people with your ridiculous comments. It's a beautiful day, go out and take a walk or something.

If that doesn't help, go ahead and e-mail Melissa with all of the issues you obviously have with the way she conducts her life. It's certainly your right to do so as an ....anonymous commenter? Okay, wait. Maybe it's NOT your right to judge her life?

Well, anyway. Just go take that walk. I'm sure you'll feel better for it. :0)

I Love the dress!
We are supposed to be going to Florida for a wedding this fall, and getting to buy a new dress is a perk that hadn't occured to me!
I'm so pleased to see that the hs mommy image has gone upscale! Who would have thunk?
