I love the way that Race drives.
He spent many an hour, back in his Trooper days, teaching Defensive Driving courses to fellow officers. And of course, with all the job changes in this same field, the driving experience and training has reached epic, movie-making quality.
So- I love the way he drives.
Riding with him, has taught me to be a different sort of driver as well. I’d say that we are a house of aggressive drivers. Not aggressive in the mean, violent sort of way……but more in the-- “That’s o.k., stay where you are…….I got it……I’ll do the thinkin’ AND the drivin’……..just stay in your lane please, and try not to swerve.”---type of driving.
And since Race will be the one teaching our soon-to-be 15 yr old….I’d say we’ve got another “thinkin’” driver on the way. Race can hardly wait to put him through the cones in reverse without dropping below 35mph.!!
We believe whole-heartedly that ALL of the space on the road is meant to be used. This includes the shoulders. You have no idea how much this angers some folks. We also are firm believers that traffic signals are merely for those who do not understand the rules of the road. More of a suggestion, really. We use traffic signals selectively.
Recently, while on our way home from vacation, Race was in the drivers seat. I don’t know what was actually going on at the time, but I DO know that there was a lot of traffic, and merging was taking place. Race begins singing “Jimmy crack-corn an’ I don’t care, Jimmee crack- corn an’ I don’t care………” as the gentleman from behind blows his horn and gives some sort of hand gesture as a greeting. Race only stops his tune long enough to say, “Oh, look how friendly they are here! Everybody wave at the nice man, kids!” And they did. Happily. Race picked up his lovely rendition of “Jimmee crack-corn”, which eventually led into the lesser known versions, of “Jimmee crapped-corn”, and then later, “Jimmee sells crack, an’ I don’t care”.
I love that man.

Yikes.
Hmmm. I'm thinking the anonymous "Yikes" comment probably came from a NON-thinkin'driver,no? ;0D
Anyhoo.
Yes,I would say Austin's behind-the-wheel training, via Race, will be something he won't ever forget. The boy will be WELL prepared for the road!!
"Jimmy sells crack 'an I don't
care"....ROFL!!!!!!!!
Well said, from a long time aggressive driver. When will America forget the traffic signals and go to round abouts?? They work so much better!
Tell Race we said hey! And I don't know what he did or said to Walker when he was home but it made quite an impression!!
ROFLOL! Zorak sings "Jimmy sells crack" too!
I'll post a picture of him as soon as I get one through the censor. I went through all our photos, all the way back to March and he vetoed every. single. one. *sigh* Men. But I do want to post one w/ the beard, you know, so you can see my 'Old Man' in all his geriatric glory. :-)

FYI - I hope your idiot husband doesn't run over some unsuspecting bicycle rider legally riding on the shoulder.
Ahhhhh....My dear anon N.J commenter. Calm thyself. We happen to BE cyclists. And I know that someone with your wee little mind cannot comprehend the thought of a driver actually being able to think for themselves.....AND have a perfect driving record.....but, alas tis true.
The next time you post anything even resembling the words "idiot husband" I will post all of your contact information here. Go peddle your nasty wares somewhere else.

We call that 2 points in my house! BWAHAHAHAHA!!! (And we bike too!)\
But hey you are from NJ and...uhhh...you guys can't drive. That may also explain your nastiness!
ROFL@Emily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Melissa, we drive like that too. I scare all my OK friends. ;-)
We are in the country and like Emily said "2 points".
