French, Phonics, and Cartoon Water

While I was helping Savannah to learn her French terms for ballet today, Jackson was doing his phonics lesson. He was sitting in the floor with 3-D glasses on ( no, I don't know why), reading aloud to me the words written in the vertical list, and then giving me an "example" of each one, (which I had not asked for). I was trying to teach Savannah, and was listening to his voice in the background. I don't know why I thought that this would work.
The "lesson" went like this:

Jack: "Pick"- "Like Pick up your toys."
Savannah: "Efface'"-(Trying to position her body correctly to achieve this position.)
Jack: "Tick"- "Like, the clock ticks"
Savannah: "Croisse' Devant" (again, trying to get the position correct)
At this point Jack has stopped reading and is tormenting Savannah's beloved cat Herriott (yes, she is named after the author), by trying to let HER wear the 3-D glasses. This causes near meltdown conditions.
Me: "Jack, keep reading, you were doing well." "Leave Herriott alone" "Savannah, Herriott is fine, just ignore him, and let's finish up"
Jack: "Luck", "Duck", "Suck........Like----This sucks."
Me: gulp

I had taken several Advil before noon. However, we actually accomplished a lot today. The kids got in martial arts, ballet, and art (thank-you Aunt Thomasina), on top of regular school work, AND we had a long conversation about appropriate language.

On a totally unrelated note: While watching a cartoon this afternoon, Jackson stated, "Mom, have you ever noticed that cartoon water looks delicious?"

Cheers!
Melissa

It's true. He's only saying what I've been thinking for years, but hadn't the guts to say aloud.

Cartoon water does, in fact, look delicious.
