The next few days are going to busy ones for us. My dad is going back in the hospital for angioplasty. So we will be on the road. We will be praying for dad. We'll be looking forward to seeing him.....and mom........and Race.
The events at VT are right in our backyard, and almost everyone knows SOMEONE involved in this tragedy. The following was sent from my pastor, and I felt that it was such an apt response for Christians that I wanted to reprint it here:
Beloved,
I grieve with you over the evil events at Tech yesterday. What a
sobering reminder that we live in a world which is in rebellion against
its good and glorious Creator. It is not supposed to be this way. One
day, all evil and death will be swallowed up and life will reign in
righteousness on the earth, in the presence of God. Until that day we
trust and pray, we hate evil, we repent of the evil in our own hearts,
we show compassion to the destitute, while being amazed that such things
don't happen more often.
We grieve with those who lost children, knowing the greater horror our
Father experienced at Calvary punishing His Son for the sins of His
enemies. We're thankful that God hates the shedding of innocent blood,
and that justice will be done in heaven. We know that no place is safe
on this earth, save for the everlasting arms of Jesus. To be in those
arms by sovereign grace is profoundly comforting. May it lead you to
worship.
Perhaps God is showing Americans what it is like to live in countries
where terrorists regularly torment others with their acts of vile evil.
We need to pray for them, as for ourselves, that our world would be
increasingly hungry for the good news of the gospel, the only sure hope,
the love of God in Christ.
Pressing on together for the renewal of the earth, humbly by unfailing
mercy,
M.
G'night,
Melissa

Very well put by your pastor. Thanks so much for sharing it!
Thank you for sharing this. It does make you stop, thank God we live in this country and then realize what other countries go through every day.
We will be praying for your Dad and the doctors. Let us know how things go.
Thanks for sharing. It is still unbelievable.
Beautifully said. What a blessing he must be to those who need his comfort. Thank you for sharing his letter.
And please know that your father, his physicians, and all of your family will be in our family's prayers this week. {{{hugs}}
