home again, home again, jiggety jog

O.K., so....we're back home.

Why is it that the further that you get from the beach, the paler your tan looks???

What is one of the wors things that can happen after you load all your junk into the car? Back-back stuffed, kayaks loaded, and bikes all on the rack. What is the worst that can happen? Kids all loaded in, with their ipods on, and husband logging in gps coordinates, waiting on the Mrs. to do the final lock-up of the rental place. What is the worst that can happen? You guessed it. The suburban battery was D.E.A.D. Race grabbed the jumper cables and quickly found a good samaritan, while the Mrs. silently thanked God that she was not on her own. (Mugger, attacker, purse snatcher...bring it on....but, I kid you not, car trouble is my worst nightmare.)

What is one of the worst things that can happen when you get home from vacation? Well, I'll tell you. You COULD have everyone unapack ALL their stuff, and instruct them to bring ALL their dirty laundry to the hallway for washing, only to discover on your FIRST load that your washer (of 13 years, thank-you) is LEAKING. You discover this only when your youngest son comes running upstairs to tell you that there is water dripping out of one of the recessed LIGHTS in his room.

So, for anyone who wants to be me, or is living vicariously through me, I encourage you to stop immediately. ;-)

At any rate, we are still glad to be home. We had a very good first day back to school. I had to monitor study hall today, and the kids just crack me up. The adults still don't speak to me, but I really love the kids.

I will post beach pics as soon as we get our laptop/camera/cord ratio correct.
Cheers!
Melissa

Also looking forward to pictures! And don't sweat it -- the adults at soccer have barely spoken three words to me yet. Nice to know that I'm in good company!
