Gardening ....and my mom

Today I picked more green beans and tomoatoes from my garden. They have really out done themselves this year. It feels good to have a stocked freezer, and I am encouraged to try a fall garden this year.

Gardening always makes me think of my mom. She loves to garden and she is my go-to-garden-guru when I have questions. She taught me to love getting my hands dirty and "tending" the garden.

Tonight mom is sick. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and she is home in bed.

I don't think that I have shared with you that my parents had welcomed in a dear, dear, close, family friend ("Uncle Roy") who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer as well as leukemia.(I will save the awesome story of this incredible man for another night). They invited him to come and live with them and essentially, to die there, with them. They have cared for his needs in the most amazing way. And while no one is unaware of his prognosis and condition........this man is THRIVING. He is really thriving and really, really happy.

My parents are selfless people.

My mom is the most gifted caregiver that I have ever seen. EVER.
You see, she not only understands the physical comforts that the body needs, she has this amazing degree of respect and worth for humanity all on it's own. It just floors me. When you see this sort of caring, or if you are blessed enough to experience it, you sit back and wonder at it. It is so rare. A gentle love and respect of........LIFE. It's gift.

I do wonder at it all.
And most of all I am humbled beyond words that God would bless me with such powerful testimonies of His love. They have surrounded me my whole life.

Please say a prayer for my mom tonight.
Love you mom. Feel better!

Yeah, you nailed it. I have never, ever met better people than Mom & Dad and The Dude completely agrees. Which begs the question, "What the heck happened to us?!!?!" :)

Totally jealous of your produce!
