Now THAT'S pressure

For those of you who don't know, "Andree" from my comments section, is Race's mom. Race's mom is calling me out on the carpet....making me lay it all out there. But, isn't it cute how she said "no tightening of the hips" instead of using my phrase, "sagging butt"? Doesn't that just sound so much more lady-like? (sigh)

I'll try to explain our nutrition plan without boring everyone to tears, and post it here later.

We had a tough night last night. It was Jack's first game. He is on a really good team this year, and by "good", I mean a winning team, not necessarily a team full of great ,fun kids. The team that our guys were playing they had beaten in a scrimmage 9-0. Anyway, here's how it went:

The kids were all playing poorly and there were a lot of errors and several bad attitudes. There were injuries as well. Well, because of good coaching, we held 'em off............. And then the uspeakable happened. Bottom of the 6th(they only play 6 innings in this league), 2 runs down, 2 outs, bases loaded.......and Jack is up. He struck out, and the game was over. The parenting books never tell you how excruciating it is to watch your child struggle.

The coach was great, and really encouraged Jack for giving his best effort under an extreme amount of pressure, and then laid the loss squarely at the feet of the older guys who were goofing off, and knew better. I think that they just never thought that they could lose.

But I must say, that I have never been prouder of my little guy. He handled this SO WELL. He was such a little man. he knew exactly what had just taken place, and he shouldered it. He did it without pouting. He kept a good attitude, and he's ready to get back out there. I am so proud!

But as a parent.....Wow. I really could live the rest of my days happily, without ever having to be in that situation again! ;-)

Thomasina got some pics, so I'll post some as soon as I get them. Whew! that was a tough one.

Have a good day!

Wow...talk about pressure! I'm glad he has handled it so well and is ready to get back out there. Hopefully the rest of the guys will feel the same way.

We have been in that same situation so many times, 2 outs, last inning and my son is up. My stomach starts to hurt and do I not only have butterflies in there the bees have joined forces also. There were times he struck out and I just wanted to cry for him and there were times he would hit it into the outfield and I would cheer. Wayne is such an easy going, happy go lucky kid that it never seemed to get him down when the bad would happen to him. I say it's good parenting, we should get some of the credit for these good kids, don't you think? So, Melissa way to go, you must be doing something right.

Awww! That is so tough for him (and you!). But WTG Jack for being such a man in a hard situation! We are proud of you. And just think, the rest of the season will be a piece of cake :)

Ugh. Well, I'm proud of Jack for handling it like the fine young man he is. That's wonderful. (And the Mama in me, well, her stomach knotted up somethin' fierce just reading this. That's so hard!)

Sounds like the coaches really stepped up to the plate on that. I'm so glad.

What a wild ride this adventure is!

It was a tough game and just a tough situation, all the way around. He was SUCH a trooper! I was so proud of him. He's an awesome kid and the great parenting he's receiving really shines through in these situations. I'll get the pics over to you today. :0)

Oh, oh. My daughter was a game ending out last year, in a big game. She handled it so well (I, otoh, was dying for her...I may have wiped away a few tears while I put the chairs away) and made me so proud. She was stunned, but it just motivated her to learn better base running (we had a lousy coach last year) on her own.

Way to go, handling it with such grace.
