Church was great today. I am wondering how Race will like this church. The kids LOVE it. Everyone was so super nice and friendly after the service, and I already knew several of the members. The boys were whisked off immediately and Thom, Savannah and I found them in the gym with the other boys playing soccer. We let them play for a bit, while we got to visit with some of the ladies. After church, we hit Starbucks. The kids all got a treat, and Thom and I got drinks (that iced caramel machiatto really hit the spot). Then we headed over to the quaint little small town hardware store to look at the flowers for sale. I can't pass up a nursery these days! I didn't see any flowers that I needed, but I picked up a bag of Rose tone for which my roses will surely thank me.
The rest of the day has been pretty relaxing. I have done all of my lesson plans for the week, and have everything pulled together. I am waiting to talk to Race, so we can see about coming to meet him. It would be about a 4+hr drive, and the kids would take their lessons with them. We would probably stay 2 nights(2 rooms). Ugh. It adds up quick. But we will probably go anyway.
I am still really sore, and would actually rather run this evening than do that workout again. But it is SOOooo hot. I know, I know, people run in weather like this, but I think that I would surely die. But I'll get some sort of workout in tonight.
We are going to have a busy week this week. But I have found that we all function better when we are on task. So, in my thirst for balance, I have begun making lists again. I am good at following lists. It's the only way that I seem to accomplish the things that need to get done. If it isn't staring up at me from a piece of paper, begging to be checked off, well then, it's all too easy for me to let it slide. Some of the first things to go on any given day would be my Bible reading, my workout, the kids Spanish lesson, etc, etc. You get the picture. I am a calmer Mom when I can just "do the next thing". It brings a bit of perspective. So, we shall see how it goes this week.
I've got to go and run off some math work sheets, and dread my work -out for a little while!
Have a good night,
Melissa
