Tonight I am feeling unbelievably sorry for myself. We really miss Race.
I fixed round steaks with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and biscuits for dinner. After we did our "high-low", Someone started talking about Indians. Somehow, this led me to ask, "So, if you had an Indian name, what would it be?". I was dubbed "Yelling Owl" or "Voice That Carries", Austin was "Running Hare", and Savannah was "Silver Stream" or "Moon Flower", while little "Falling Poop" shall remain nameless. This of course reminds me of "Dy of the Many Chins", which totally cracks me up. Then I thought of the story of a gal that Janelle and Thom and I saw one night. She was appropriately dubbed "Long in the Ti**y". Now, don't go emailing me, we weren't just being mean, she deserved this title, and it's a long, long story, but man this still makes me fall out of my chair laughing. I swear, I can't even type it without laughing!
I have been reading the book "Adam and His Kin", by Ruth Beechick, aloud to the kids at night. They really like it so far. I will let you know what I think when we are done. Have y'all read this book? What do you think?
Oh- hey, guess what? I am almost finished with Don Quixote! Can you believe it? WHy was this book so difficult to get through? I actually found the story quite amusing. Sancho Panza has my kind of sense of humor! But still, I got bogged down. Anyway, I should be finished before the end of the week. Yay me!
Gotta go read!

I am laughing so hard at your Indian names! I feel certain I would also have the word "Yelling" in my Indian name. Can't wait to see what my kids think up.
At his sleepover last night my son and his friend came up with their Sith names and their Jedi names. Oh, and their soldier names. At midnight I woke up to voices in the kitchen. They had covered the kitchen table in Army men and were staging an elaborate campaign at the top of their lungs. I turned into Growling Sleepy Bear and sent them off to bed.
Have not read Don Quixote yet but if Sancho Panza has your sense of humor I'm definitely interested. You make me laugh out loud! (And your sister, too!)
Saturday Kickin' Back Mama Bird
"VOICE THAT CARRIES" and "FALLING POOP" That is a riot! LOL!!!
WTG on Don Quixote! I actually picked it up when I was at your house last week and rather enjoyed it.We really gotta get the book club restarted!
Love your Indian names...I have no idea what mine would be. Stands with a Smirk comes to mind. But I'm definitely interested in the book club Thom mentioned! We're really praying for you right now...you sound so down. Any chance of a long visit with Race coming up?
Hey! Wait! I want to pick a "real" Indian Name! The chins thing hits a little close to home just at the moment. If you're not going to let Jackson use "Falling Poop", I'm pretty sure the boys would be happy to bestow that on Smidge.
Tonight James put on one of those truckstop gift shop t-shirts from NM, with Kokopelli on it. He wanted to know what it means to Kokopelli. I was lost. He got impatient. Then he said, "Well, isn't he called that b/c it's something about what he did or what he was like?" OHHHHHHHH. Um. I don't think the Navajos did that... (??? I had no idea what to say!)
