The weather was gorgeous today, and both boys are fighting off head colds, so we had a light day of school lessons, cancelled martial arts and headed outdoors! It was so awesome. All my flowers are popping up and the crocuses have started blooming. I like to wander around and stare at all the little green shoots trying to break through the hard winter ground. Savannah and I had a bit of time over the weekend together, and after getting coffee, we went to one of the local garden stores and bought the most beautiful primroses, along with some english ivy. Has anyone ever grown primroses with success in the south? If you have any tips, please let me know. They are so pretty.

Austin made it to baseball practice yesterday in spite of feeling pretty badly. Everything went really well, and he is very excited about this year.

I talked to Dy last night. It is always so good to catch up with her. She always cracks me up! I feel bad though, because every time she and I talk, we just keep going till her phone cuts off.(oops!)The baby sounds just precious, and I did some arm twisting for pictures!

I spoke with Race's mom and found out that we are going to be the blessed recipients of his grandmothers antique books!! We are soo excited about this, and it gives me more incentive to go ahead and purchase those bookshelves that we have had our eye on. Savannah and I simply cannot WAIT to get our hands on those books. Thank-you Gammy!!!

A few things that my youngest has said in the past few days:

Out of nowhere he pipes up and says,
" Mom, never look a monkey in the eye."
"Why?"
"Because, they see it as a threat."
"Oh...really? Well....big deal...What can a MONKEY do, anyway?" (wink)
Shaocked at my ignorance, but wanting to let me down easy, "Oh-ho-ho...Looks can be deceiving, Mom, looks.. can.. be.. deceiving."

And then tonight, while I was cooking supper, (spaghetti) he said, "OHhh MAN- I just LOVE meat! Especially that curly kind!" (meaning ground beef).

G'night,
melissa

It was pretty here today too. I was also out looking to see what might be coming through the ground. My daffodils are starting to open. I think I will pick a few tomorrow and put them in some luke-warm water so I can have a fresh bouquet in the house.(The beautiful tulips you sent me and the beautiful mixed arrangement Thomasina sent are starting to droop a little.) Hope the boys get a hold on those colds real fast. Hope Savannah doesn't catch it.
If you get any pictures of little Emily, please let me see them.
Hope Andre' and Gammy are both well.
See you on Saturday.

Love, Mom
p.s. DO NOT LOOK ANY MONKIES IN THE EYE!!

I'm going to have to remember that monkey thing when we're out and about. Sounds dangerous!

I promise I will hook up the mostly dead printer and liberate the images from my camera. Honest.

Your flowers are blooming already? *sigh* I was hoping it wasn't time to plant them yet!! We'll just tell the boys we're having an "indigenous garden" this year...

Enjoy the beautiful weather, and have a wonderful, wonderful week! (And I'm glad you knew it was my phone dying - darned thing. It was great to talk to you - thanks for the pep talk. It helped a lot.)

I sure wish we could spend some time with your kids. They sound like so much fun.
