I started this blog to keep the husband/father of this happy home up to speed with what goes on here while he is off making the world a safer place. We will refer to him as "Race" (You know..Race Bannon... from Johnny Quest?). We are Christian in our religion, and conservative, in our politics. We home school our guinea pigs,-er- I mean , our kids. Our life is not "the norm", but, with Divine Grace, we're makin' it work, and usually having a good time in the process!

Savannah's room make over
When I first painted, stenciled and wallpapered Savannah's room. She was 3. I remember that the week that the wallpaper was finished, Savannah woke up from her nap and found the stenciling paint crayon that I had forgotten to hide under lock and key. She promptly "stenciled" all over new wallpaper with the greasy, paint pencil. (Which in case you are wondering could only be removed with gasoline at the time. )
So, suffice it to say that at 14, she had outgrown her room a bit. Now, we don't have any super great pictures of the room, but you get the idea. It's a cape cod. And the room is actually pretty good sized, we just don't have any pics SHOWING that!! And the room was all carpet. SHe used to share the upstairs with another room across the hall that belonged to her brothers. We finished our basement and moved the boys down there. Then we knocked out the wall and she now has her own Great Room up there. I can't WAIT to get that finished. I'm AL-MOST done!
And now.....WALLAH!! Her "new" room. We paneled the wall with wainscoting panelling, painted the ceiling and upper walls a nuetral color, and then put laminate on the floor. The decor was all chosen by Savannah. She chose the colors and is still in the process of really "making it her own" with the usual posters and what-not.

It looks great!!! I can't wait to show MK. I suspect we will be stealing some ideas.
Beautiful work! Has she shown it off to friends yet?
The rooms looks great, it's kind of sad when they grow out of the "little girl" decor though. We had the stenciling in Ashleigh's room and when it was painted over with pink, yellow and orange I almost cried.
I saw over at anniesue's that today is your birthday so "Happy Birthday". The kids are getting older but we are just getting younger.
I meant to tell you, re: the stenciling marker and the 3yo. Reminds me of when U-Kid 1 was three and we left her alone for a moment. She found a Sharpie marker. I'm trying to forget the rest of that story.........
LOVE IT!!!
Wow. That's exciting. The difference is stunning, and i have to say the new look certainly reflects Savannah's style beautifully. (Not that there was a thing wrong with the pink bows... you know... ten years ago...) I'm lovin' it!
