From Friday

Before I talk about Friday, just a quick note from Thurs. evening. Race talked to his Mom that night. He said that she really didn't feel like talking very much.We both agreed that she just doesn't sound well at all.She has so much going on right now. I know that she reads this blog sometimes, so we wanted to let her know that we are worried and that we care about her so much. Let us know if it is something that we can help with.

I have a few random tid bits from Friday.

First of all, I finished the book, "The Hiding Place", by Corrie Ten Boom. If you have never read this book, please turn off your computer and run out and get yourself a copy right now. This book is one of those life changing page turners. Truly amazing, inspiring, and humbling. Excellent!

Yesterday, we didn't make it to the batting cages, because a certain 13 yr old boy decided that he would poke and drag out his lessons as loooonng as possible. Hopefully, lesson learned. We DID however manage to climb, and conquer "Trash Mtn.". (This is all of the trash that mounts up in our shed while Race is gone. I try folks, really I do. I just.....can't ......make...it...to..the...dump!) Anyway-Trash is gone and it feels good.
Jackson and Savannah got to get out and enjoy the weather by going on a hunt for various fungi, plants, and creatures to classify scientifically. They brought back everything from liverwort, to lichens, to crawdads. We managed to classify most of them. Fun stuff.
Race got to help Savannah practice with her bow. She twanged her arm for the first time, but took it like a trooper. She LOVES her long bow.
We barely got the boys to their Martial Arts class. We were running a little late (Due to "Trash Mtn." referenced above.) and we were all chattering along as we drove in the Suburban, when all of a sudden Jack let out a long howl of despair. Apparently some idiot went and changed the look of the Taco Bell that we pass on the way to class. They painted the building a new color (gasp!) AND they changed the look of their sign. He was genuinely upset. "It's just not the same, Mom", he said. Isn't it funny how some children are like that? I remember one time, I got my hair cut when he was 4 yrs. old. I came in the door, and he just burst into tears!
Race, Savannah and I went to Barnes and Noble. We perused books and drank coffee( except Savannah), until time to pick up the boys.
I talked to Dy last night while I fixed supper. I am so excited for this family! They are just going to love it in Alabama!
After dinner, I made two large bowls of popcorn, and some peanutbutter chip cookies, and we watched "The Incredibles". Hilarious movie.
It was a really good day.
Cheers!
Melissa

Sounds like a good day. I SO dread my bi-weekly trash run, too. And for heaven sakes, don't go on a Sunday! It's like a big social club there at the dumpsters, I swear. The whole neighborhood comes out to visit and chat there amongst the smelly refuse. Yuck. I'm probably considered antisocial because I don't stay and chew the fat LOL!
